Just Imagine…

This morning I was, along with millions of others I’m sure, watching the Rose Bowl Parade from Pasadena… the title tag for this entry was the theme for this year’s parade, and it sort of stuck in my busy little mind…

Just imagine… what could be done if we donated 20% of all the money spent on those needless “must-have-but-seldom-if-ever-use” things we all buy;

Just imagine… The incredible number of children who could be fed and given desperately needed health treatments with a portion of the money used on wars;

Just imagine… how many more youngsters could have a chance at a better tomorrow if we would just increase the educational budget by a mere 15%;

Just imagine… what a much better place this would be if we would get along with our neighbors without regards to their accent, skin color, or religious beliefs;

Just imagine… how many of our sons', daughters' and grandchildren's lives will be saved if wars of convenience were not fought;

Just imagine… what a brighter place this would be if we took the time to smile and say hi to our neighbors and to people we meet on a daily basis;

Just imagine… how much more our children would enjoy their childhood if parents took the time to know them and to give them a little more attention;

Just imagine… how beautiful your life would be and how good you would feel if you gave a little of your time and knowledge to help those in need;

Just imagine… how much more relaxing your daily living could be if your mind was directed to positive solutions instead than to constantly rehashing every day problems... or worse yet, past problems…

Two little words, but what a profound impact they can have on the thinking process if allowed to run loose in our minds. Could you imagine a different world? A world that is truer to our wishes and desires and, yes, to the wishes and desires of others as well? Believe it or not, there is actually room for all.

Imagine life as you would have it; a life you would actually enjoy living, day in and day out… a life spent in harmony with your loved ones; yes, there will be moments of disagreement and moments of hurt and of dealing with negative issues but, when there is love and trust at the core of a relationship (whether between two people or the members of a family) there will always be the opportunity to work these out and come to an understanding and agreement as to how to proceed. Sometimes one will “win out”, other times someone else will; just because one is “the parent’ or the older one, does not mean one always necessarily has the right of it.

Listen… talk… understand… converse… accept… follow through… say you are sorry when wrong; do not gloat when right… do not be afraid to love, to take a chance… treat every moment as the most important moment, don't be afraid to relax and truly enjoy the journey to your eventual destiny, whatever this might be, for you might not get there, you know...  but how wonderful it will be to be able to say that you have enjoyed the way traveled, even if you do not arrive at that wanted destination.

Just imagine all we could do if we just put these concepts into practice as a matter of course…

Just Imagine!!

Be Well … Be Back!!!
